Tadej Pogačar secured his first Tour de Romandie title, capping a dominant performance with another win on the final mountain stage. The UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider controlled the 79th edition of the race, becoming only the third Slovenian to triumph in Romandie, following Primož Roglič and Simon Špilak.
The reigning world champion delivered an impressive display throughout the week, claiming four of the five stages and asserting clear dominance in the general classification.
In the decisive final stage from Lucens to Leysin, Pogačar responded calmly to repeated attacks on the climb, ultimately overtaking Florian Lipowitz near the finish to secure yet another stage victory.
Pogačar finished 42 seconds ahead of Lipowitz in the overall standings, with Lenny Martinez taking third place. Reflecting on the race, he described the final stage as demanding but praised the strong support from fans along the route. The victory marks the 117th win of his career and his fifth title this season, further cementing his status as one of cycling’s most dominant figures.
