The University of Ljubljana has officially launched construction of a new Faculty of Pharmacy building at the Brdo Campus in Ljubljana, with the €100 million project expected to be completed by 2030. University rector Gregor Majdič said the investment will help support the continued development of one of Slovenia’s most important export-driven industries.
Slovenia’s pharmaceutical sector has become a major contributor to the national economy, with international companies such as Novartis and Sandoz frequently highlighting the importance of local expertise and scientific talent.
Officials say demand for pharmaceutical professionals is expected to continue growing in the coming years.
According to Faculty of Pharmacy dean Rok Dreu, the new building will accommodate around 2,000 students and 250 employees and will include modern laboratories, lecture halls, research facilities, a training pharmacy and library spaces. The campus expansion also reflects broader investment in higher education infrastructure in Ljubljana, where new faculties for medicine, veterinary medicine and mechanical engineering are also being developed.
