In a groundbreaking move, Croatia is set to showcase the dynamic range of its climate at the upcoming EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Japan.
The country’s pavilion, designed with a 50-square-metre space, will feature an intricate system of pipes, transferring real-time temperatures from various Croatian locations to the Japanese audience.
Visitors will experience live temperatures from places like Zagreb, Dubrovnik, and the Biokovo mountain range—an innovation never seen before on this scale.
Zvonimir Frka Petešić, head of the Prime Minister’s office, called the project the first-ever live transmission of thermal energy across continents, highlighting its originality and potential for future groundbreaking applications, akin to Croatia’s historical innovations at past World Expos.

With 47 tons of materials and over 15 kilometres of pipes, Croatia’s effort emphasizes climate change’s global impact, fostering connections between nations.
As the exhibition draws millions, it highlights Croatia’s expertise in sustainable innovation—creating a momentous, interactive experience that underscores the importance of our planet’s changing climate.
The pavilions, built from recycled materials, will be dismantled after the event, ensuring a lasting, environmental legacy.
