UN Security Council to Convene Emergency Session on Kosovo* at Serbia’s Request

The United Nations Security Council is set to hold an emergency meeting this Thursday, following Serbia's request to discuss the escalating situation in Kosovo and Metohija

An emergency session of the United Nations Security Council, convened at the behest of the Republic of Serbia, is slated for Thursday to address the situation in Kosovo and Metohija. The meeting, confirmed by Serbia’s head of diplomacy Ivica Dačić to RTS, is scheduled for 9 p.m. local time.

The request for this special session, submitted by Serbia to the Guyanese mission, underscores the current tensions in Kosovo and Metohija, which Serbia argues stand in stark contrast to the principles of the UN Charter and UN Security Council Resolution 1244. The forthcoming session’s format, whether open to the public or held in private, remains undecided.
