According to the United Nations’ 2024 Annual Report for Serbia, the country received $95 million in assistance through over 200 initiatives aimed at promoting green transition, climate resilience, social equity, and the rule of law.
The UN reported that its support contributed to improvements in heating systems, wastewater treatment, and the development of Serbia’s first Green Infrastructure Strategy.
They also stated that services for early childhood development and mental health had been expanded, while digital tools were introduced in healthcare and education sectors, alongside strengthened mechanisms to combat gender-based violence.
The UN explained that these efforts were part of a broader collaboration with the Serbian government, civil society, the private sector, and international partners within the 2021–2025 Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia, Matilda Mordt, was quoted as saying that the team had focused on delivering results that make a tangible difference—such as stronger institutions, more resilient communities, and increased opportunities for all.
She added that while Serbia continued to face complex challenges, from demographic shifts to climate pressures, the UN remained a committed partner, offering expertise, innovation, and partnerships to accelerate inclusive, future-oriented reforms aligned with Agenda 2030 and EU accession goals.
