Slovenia’s Tadej Pogačar claimed victory on stage three of the 2026 Tour de France, outsprinting Danish rival Jonas Vingegaard at the end of a demanding 195.9-kilometre mountain stage from Granollers to Les Angles. The win earned the UAE Team Emirates XRG rider the coveted yellow jersey and strengthened his bid for a fifth overall Tour title.
The 27-year-old secured his 22nd career Tour de France stage victory, drawing level with French cyclist André Darrigade for fifth place on the race’s all-time winners list. Pogačar’s teammate Isaac del Toro, who had won stage two, played a key role in setting up the decisive attack in the closing kilometres.
Although Pogačar and Vingegaard are tied on overall time, the Slovenian now leads the general classification on countback thanks to better stage results. Belgium’s Remco Evenepoel sits third, 23 seconds behind the leading duo.
Speaking after the race, Pogačar praised his team and described wearing the yellow jersey as a dream for every cyclist. Should he go on to win this year’s Tour, he would claim a fifth overall title, joining cycling legends Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indurain among the most successful riders in the history of the sport.
