Flydubai Suspends Ljubljana Flights Amid Middle East Disruptions

Regional instability forces route cuts across the Balkans, with services expected to resume in May.

Flydubai has suspended flights between Dubai and Ljubljana’s main international airport until the end of April, citing ongoing disruptions to air traffic caused by escalating tensions in the Middle East. The airline is expected to resume operations to Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport on 1 May, depending on how the security situation evolves in the region.

The carrier had maintained four weekly flights on the route during the winter schedule and had initially planned to increase frequencies ahead of the summer season.

However, the worsening geopolitical climate has forced Flydubai to scale back its regional operations, including reductions in services to other Balkan hubs such as Zagreb, Belgrade and Sarajevo.

The suspension reflects broader pressures on global aviation routes as conflict in the Middle East continues to impact flight planning and safety considerations. Slovenian authorities have already responded to the crisis by organising evacuation flights for more than a thousand citizens earlier this month, underlining the wider implications of the instability beyond air travel alone.
