Podravka Secures Green Light to Acquire Fortenova’s Agricultural Segment

Croatian Food Giant Poised for Major Strategic Leap

In a move set to reshape Croatia’s agricultural and food production landscape, Podravka has announced that its subsidiary, Podravka Agri, received approval from the Croatian Comptetition Agency (AZTN) to acquire Fortenova’s agricultural segment.

The deal, worth a staggering 333 million euros, signals Podravka’s strategic intent to strengthen its foothold in the industry.

The acquisition encompasses renowned names as such Belje Plus, PIK Vinkovci Plus, Vupik Puls, Energia Gradec, Belje Agro-Vet Plus, and Felix Plus. This bold move underscores Podravka’s ambition to consolidate its position in agricultural production, aligning with its well-established dominance in food processing and pharmaceuticals.

While regulatory approval in other markets, including Serbia and North Macedonia, is still pending, the acquisition is poised to usher in a new era for Podravka. Notably, Podravka Agri, the newly formed subsidiary, will oversee the acquired entities, maintaining their operational independence while enhancing the company’s vertical integration.

Podravka’s 333 million euros gamble isn’t just about growth – it’s a calculated play to dominate Croatia’s agribusiness ecosystem.
