Hungary and Serbia strengthen ties through energy cooperation

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban visited Belgrade to discuss energy cooperation with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, highlighting their shared commitment to ensuring affordable energy for citizens and businesses in both countries.

A shared vision for energy security

Orban emphasized the importance of making energy accessible and affordable, describing it as a priority for Hungary and Serbia. Following the meeting, he expressed gratitude for the discussions and hospitality, stating, “Our goal is to make energy accessible and affordable for our people and companies. That was the focus of today’s discussions in Belgrade.”

Collaborating on critical energy projects

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó also stressed the need for cooperation in ensuring the safe operation of the TurkStream pipeline, which is vital for the energy security of both nations. “Hungary and Serbia cannot achieve energy security without each other,” Szijjártó stated.
