The Albanian government has granted strategic investor status to a company linked to Jared Kushner, son-in-law of newly elected US President Donald Trump, for the development of a luxury tourist resort on the uninhabited Sazan Island, formerly a military base, Reuters reports.
The Strategic Investment Committee, chaired by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, approved the proposal by Atlantic Incubation Partners to execute the project on a 45-hectare site, with an investment of €1.4 billion.
The project was deemed compliant with Albania’s strategic investment laws, with an anticipated creation of approximately 1,000 jobs.
Last year, Kushner revealed plans for tourist developments on Albania’s Zvernec and Sazan Islands, as well as a project in Belgrade involving the former General Staff building.
