Serbia’s Annual Production of Brandy Tops 50 Million Litres

In Serbia, approximately 50 million litres of brandy are produced annually, of which 30 million litres are produced by distilleries registered with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management.

The remaining 20 million litres are produced for personal use, as reported by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS).

According to PKS data, about 100 new distilleries are established in Serbia each year.

The majority of brandy producers are located in the Rasina, Zlatibor, and Šumadija districts, with plum brandy, pear brandy, and quince brandy being the most popular.

The PKS notes that there are about 730 registered producers of spirits in Serbia and that the export of brandy to international markets is growing annually at a rate exceeding 20 percent.

Brandy is most commonly exported to Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Germany, and the USA, but exports have also begun to Azerbaijan, Lithuania, and Latvia.
