Slovenian Firm AFormX Develops Advanced Aerial Firefighting Simulator

A new, highly realistic simulator aims to boost pilot training and wildfire response capacity across Southeast Europe.

Slovenian aviation technology and precision mechanics company AFormX has developed a cutting-edge aerial firefighting simulator designed for Air Tractor aircraft, with a strong focus on the Adriatic region. The simulator enables pilots to train for demanding low-altitude firefighting missions in safe, controlled conditions, significantly reducing operational risks, especially in smoke-heavy and complex terrain.

The simulator is already being used in practice through AFormX’s own flight school, allowing continuous upgrades based on real pilot feedback.

Interest is growing across countries that operate Air Tractor aircraft, particularly as demand rises for a new generation of aerial firefighting pilots following devastating wildfires, such as the 2022 fires in Slovenia’s Kras region.

Alongside simulator development, AFormX also produces critical composite aircraft structures for the aviation industry. While primarily active in Europe, the company has recently achieved a notable breakthrough in the French market, reinforcing its position as a dual-use technology provider whose products serve both civilian and defence needs.
