A key contract for the first phase of Belgrade Metro Line One, covering Lot 1, has been signed by the Ministry of Construction, Transport, representatives of JKP “Beogradski metro i voz,” the Secretariat for Public Transport of Belgrade, and China’s “Power Construction Corporation of China.” This agreement includes the design and construction work, along with preparations for acquiring tunnel boring machines.
The contract, valued at 2.4 billion dinars, was signed at the Serbian Government offices by Radovan Kremić on behalf of the Secretariat for Public Transport, Andreja Mladenović, director of JKP “Beogradski metro i voz,” and Yang Bom, representing the Chinese company.
Minister Goran Vesić announced that construction on the first two metro lines is already underway, with a tender for the third line’s design recently issued. The first line, connecting Železnik and Mirijevo, will feature 41 three-car trains across 21 stations, with a travel time of 32 minutes.
The second line, between Mirijevo and Bežanija, will take 39 minutes with 40 trains across 24 stations, while the third line, between Bežanija and Banjica, will have 27 trains and a travel time of 38 minutes. Construction on the first stations is set to begin next year, with Mirijevo becoming a key hub as it will connect to both the first and second metro lines.
