Gordan Grlić Radman co-chaired the MED9 virtual partners meeting in Rome together with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani. The talks brought together representatives of MED9 member states, countries from the Arab League, the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Western Balkans and the Food and Agriculture Organization.
Food security emerged as a central topic amid ongoing supply chain disruptions linked to tensions and blockades around the Strait of Hormuz.
Participants warned that instability in the region continues to affect global trade routes, energy markets, and access to essential goods.
Officials stressed the need for stronger international coordination and more decisive action to ensure stable supply chains and reduce vulnerabilities. The meeting also underlined the role of MED9 countries in shaping a more coordinated European Union response toward the Mediterranean and the Middle East amid growing geopolitical uncertainty.
