Switzerland Boosts Bosnia’s EU Path

A bold new Swiss cooperation program aims to bolster Bosnia and Herzegovina’s democratic progress, economic stability, and EU integration in the coming years

Switzerland has committed a significant €60 million (120 million BAM) to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) for the period 2025-2028, marking a continued and deepened partnership between the two nations.

The announcement was made today in the Bosnian Parliament, where Swiss Ambassador to BiH, Gabriele Derighetti, and BiH Parliamentary Speaker Denis Zvizdić outlined the goals of this new aid package.

The program, which will see up to €30 million allocated annually, focuses on advancing political, economic, and social reforms, improving public institutions, supporting green economic development, and strengthening the healthcare system.

Derighetti stressed the importance of BiH’s path to EU integration, while Zvizdić highlighted the longstanding Swiss commitment, which has already seen over €1.2 billion invested in the region since 1996.

This new initiative reflects Switzerland’s dedication to the prosperity of the Balkans and its strategic role in European stability.
