The issue has attracted particular attention in the Rijeka and Krk area, where car enthusiasts have been gathering for unofficial meets. While many participants attend simply to socialise and share an interest in cars, authorities have raised concerns about activities that involve speeding, sudden manoeuvres and other behaviour that could endanger participants, spectators and other motorists.
Under the new approach, police will have stronger grounds to sanction those involved in organising or participating in illegal meets. The measures are intended to distinguish between legitimate automotive events and gatherings that take place without authorisation and involve violations of traffic regulations.
Authorities are also urging drivers who want to organise car events to use designated venues and follow the necessary procedures for obtaining approval. The aim is not to prevent car enthusiasts from gathering, but to ensure that such events take place in a controlled environment without putting public safety at risk.
