Green Energy Investment to Build 160 MW Solar Plant in Nikšić’s Šipčanik Area

Green Energy Investment, a company, plans to construct a 160 MW solar power plant in the Šipčanik neighbourhood of Nikšić.

The energy facility will be built over several cadastral parcels, encompassing a total area of about 228 hectares in the Šipčano II district.

This information is available in the application for a decision on the need to prepare an environmental impact assessment report, submitted by the investor to the Environmental Agency.

As noted in the document, the location is exceptionally suitable for building a solar power plant, given the mild winters with minimal snowfall, especially in the last decade. The site receives solar radiation of 1,420 kWh/m².

There are no existing structures at the planned construction site, requiring only land preparation to begin work.

The solar power plant’s photovoltaic system will consist of 354,552 monocrystalline half-cell panels, each with a maximum power of 550 Wp. This equates to a total installed capacity of 195 MWp, or 164 MW at peak. The system, viewed as a whole, will integrate into the 400 kV network and connect under the terms set by the Montenegrin Electricity Transmission System (CGES).
