Eva Pirc Named 2025 Woman Engineer of the Year

Dyslexia fuels creativity in engineering and innovation

Eva Pirc, a development engineer at Dewesoft, has been recognized as the 2025 Woman Engineer of the Year, showcasing how challenges like dyslexia can inspire creativity and drive innovation. A graduate of the Ljubljana Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Pirc emphasizes that engineering combines precision with curiosity, creativity, and the joy of problem-solving.

Holding a PhD in biomedical engineering, Pirc co-founded the award-winning startup mPOR, developing high-voltage impulse technologies for biomedicine.

After leaving academia, she joined Dewesoft, contributing to cutting-edge measurement instruments used by clients including the European Space Agency. Her work demonstrates how imagination and technology can intersect to create meaningful solutions.

At the award ceremony in Ljubljana on 20 January, Pirc highlighted the importance of nurturing curiosity and playfulness in education, saying that understanding is the foundation for innovation. The competition, organized by Siemens Slovenia with partners IRT3000 and Mediade, celebrates female role models in STEM and encourages more young women to pursue scientific and technical careers.
