Slovenia Unveils €4.7m Green Freight Scheme to Cut Transport Emissions

Driving change with millions in green funding for cleaner freight

In a bold move to decarbonise its freight sector, Slovenia’s Ministry of the Environment has announced a €4.7 million call for green logistics projects, set to launch this autumn.

Aimed at reducing the environmental toll of commercial transport, the initiative targets the 2025–2026 period and will be carried out under a state aid framework.

The funding—sourced from the Climate Change Mitigation Fund—will support demonstration projects that showcase zero-emission freight solutions.

Eligible applicants include registered companies and entrepreneurs engaged in commercial activities.

Projects must involve emission-free freight vehicles and the infrastructure needed to keep them running—charging stations, maintenance hubs, and other supporting systems.

Officials say the goal is not just cleaner air but a structural shift in how freight moves through the country.

With road transport still a major emitter, Slovenia’s investment signals a wider commitment to environmental responsibility and innovation in logistics.

The official call for applications is expected in September or October.
