Slovenia and Kazakhstan Strengthen Ties

In a landmark visit, Slovenia and Kazakhstan set the stage for expanded trade and strategic partnerships, with a focus on sustainability and technology

In a rare diplomatic visit, Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar’s trip to Kazakhstan is making waves with a high-level business forum in Astana aimed at bolstering economic collaboration between the two nations.

The forum, jointly organised by Slovenia’s Chamber of Commerce and the Spirit investment agency, gathered 26 Slovenian companies, ranging from pharmaceutical giants like Krka to innovative tech firms like Kontron.

Tanja Fajon, Slovenia’s Foreign Minister, highlighted the vast potential for growth in areas such as energy efficiency, ICT, and advanced industrial technologies.

With trade between the two countries surging by 168% last year to €163 million, both sides are eager to tap into further synergies.

The visit also saw Slovenian companies strike key agreements, such as a million-euro deal between Duol and Kazakhstan’s football sector.

As Kazakhstan emerges as a strategic bridge between Europe and Asia, this visit marks the beginning of a promising partnership, with both nations looking to explore deeper collaboration in science, innovation, and tourism.
