European Parliament Opens Office in Tirana

As geopolitical tensions rise and EU enlargement gains new momentum, the European Parliament's new office in Tirana marks a pivotal step in reinforcing its commitment to the Western Balkans' EU future

In a bold move to solidify its presence in the Western Balkans, the European Parliament has announced the opening of an office in Tirana, Albania.

This new office will serve as a key liaison between the Parliament and national parliaments, civil society, and local stakeholders in the region.

It is designed to promote EU accession discussions, strengthen democratic values, and support institutional reforms in countries on the path to membership.

With the region’s stability and EU integration increasingly crucial amidst rising geopolitical challenges—most notably Russia’s war in Ukraine—the office highlights the Parliament’s commitment to the Western Balkans’ EU journey.

It forms part of a wider EU strategy to deepen ties with candidate countries, reflecting an urgent need to foster stronger partnerships at a time of global uncertainty.

The office will also play a critical role in facilitating official visits and enhancing cooperation with EU and international actors on the ground.
