A New Era for Croatian Transport

As the last stretch of Croatia’s Corridor Vc opens, a vital link between Southeast Europe and the Adriatic will transform regional connectivity and boost economic prospects

After nearly two decades of construction, Croatia’s section of the long-awaited Corridor Vc is set to open this June, marking a historic milestone for the region’s transport infrastructure.

Spanning 88.6 kilometers, the A5 motorway connects Beli Manastir to the Hungarian border, linking the Croatian coastal port of Ploče with Budapest.

The final 5 kilometers, funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, includes the impressive Karašica viaduct, an engineering feat stretching 318 meters.

This new stretch reduces travel time between Osijek and Budapest to under two hours, making the Hungarian capital more accessible than Zagreb for many in eastern Croatia.

While the Croatian section nears completion, the true potential of the route will unfold once Bosnia and Herzegovina finishes its own portion by 2030.

For now, the Corridor Vc stands as a beacon of connectivity, economic opportunity, and a key driver for tourism and regional growth in the heart of Europe.
