Belgrade has been chosen to host the XXI World Congress of Economists in June 2026, as announced by the Serbian Association of Economists. The decision was made by the International Economic Association’s Executive Committee, recognizing Belgrade’s bid as the best among strong global competition.
The event will attract over 1,000 leading economists, including Nobel laureates such as Harvard’s Eric Maskin, who will chair the program committee.
This marks the first time the prestigious Congress will be held in the region and its return to Europe after 20 years, offering a unique opportunity for regional policymakers and the business community to engage with top economic minds.
