Slovenia’s Zois and Puh Prizes Recognize Lifetime Achievement in Science and Innovation

This year’s prestigious Zois Prizes for lifetime achievement in science are awarded to Željko Knez, a chemical engineering professor, and Ljubica Marjanovič Umek, a developmental psychologist

Igor Akrapovič, founder of the renowned exhaust manufacturer, has received the Puh Prize for his lifetime achievement in innovation.

Željko Knez, from the University of Maribor, is recognized for his pioneering work in separation processes and product engineering involving high-pressure sub- and supercritical fluids. 

Marjanovič Umek, a professor emeritus at the University of Ljubljana, is celebrated for her significant contributions to developmental psychology, particularly in children’s cognitive and language development, including the creation of Slovenia’s first test to assess speech development.

The awards highlight the lifelong contributions of these experts to both Slovenian and global science, as well as their influence on future generations of researchers.
