Slovenians Set Holiday Budgets, Focusing on Practical Gifts

Slovenians plan holiday spending with practical gifts in focus

A recent survey by CEC Slovenia and the Media and Market Research Institute Mediana reveals that most Slovenians (59.7%) plan their holiday shopping for December, with 19.6% starting as early as November, as reported by H1 Slovenia.

However, 10.5% admit to waiting until just before Christmas to buy gifts. Younger shoppers, aged 15 to 29, tend to get a head start in November, while 21% of respondents feel the holiday season begins in early December, and 17% associate it with the final days before Christmas and New Year.

Spending intentions vary, with 34.7% of respondents planning to allocate between €100 and €200 for gifts, 24.9% budgeting €50 to €100, and 18.3% estimating costs of €200 to €500. Women are more likely to spend over €200 than men, with 32.8% of female respondents setting higher budgets compared to 23.4% of males. Spending habits between €100 and €500 show little difference between genders.

When it comes to gifts, Slovenians favour practical and popular choices. Food, sweets, and confectionery lead the list (22.4%), followed by toys (21.8%), cosmetics and perfumes (19.9%), gift cards (19.7%), and clothing or footwear (19%). Still, 25% of those surveyed are undecided on their gift choices, leaving room for last-minute inspiration.
