In 2024, Norway achieved a new record in natural gas exports, solidifying its position as Europe’s largest supplier. Official data, shared by Reuters, indicates that export volumes are expected to remain at similarly high levels in the years ahead.
Providing around 30% of the European Union’s gas imports, Norway became the continent’s top supplier following the outbreak of the Ukraine war in 2022. The surge in demand has driven the country’s gas production to unprecedented heights.
Norway’s total output, which includes pipeline gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments, grew by 6.9% last year, reaching a record-breaking 124 billion cubic meters, according to the Norwegian Coastal Administration (NOD).
