Lettonian carrier airBaltic is opening a fresh flight corridor from Ljubljana to Spain’s Gran Canaria this autumn, with weekly direct departures launching on 25 October.
Set to run every Friday through March, the new route offers a timely escape for Slovenians seeking winter sun.
Mantas Vrubliauskas, airBaltic’s VP of Network Management, said the new connection filled a clear gap in the market, as he announced the airline’s expansion into Slovenia on 3 June.
Babett Stapel, CEO of Fraport Slovenija, described the route as a practical travel option, particularly with its timing ahead of the October school holidays.
The airline, already flying from Ljubljana to Riga under a state subsidy scheme, aims to further bolster regional connectivity across the Baltics and Nordics.
Tickets are on sale from €139 in economy and €349 in business.
The state is currently reviewing further routes under its €16.8 million air connectivity programme, with both Tirana and Las Palmas reportedly on the shortlist for support.
