Bosnia and Herzegovina Moves to Ratify EU-Supported Mediterranean Development Program

The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina has endorsed a proposal for the ratification of a significant EU funding agreement aimed at fostering sustainable growth across the Mediterranean region

The proposal will now be forwarded to the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina for final approval.

The financing agreement for the Interreg VI-B Program EURO MEDITERRANEAN (EURO MED) encompasses the 2021 – 2027 period and involves a consortium that includes the European Union, represented by the European Commission; Bosnia and Herzegovina, through its Directorate for European Integration; and the French region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.

With a total budget of €293,624,033, the program seeks to promote sustainable development in the Mediterranean area through innovative and resource-efficient practices. The European Union is set to contribute €234,899,226, with the remaining €58,724,807 to be co-financed by the participant countries.

The EURO MED program, which aims to implement its strategies over a 15-year execution period, involves multiple European nations including France, Bulgaria, Greece, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Malta, Portugal, Slovenia, Montenegro, Albania, and North Macedonia. This initiative highlights a collaborative effort to leverage regional cooperation for enhanced environmental and economic stability in the Mediterranean basin.
