Croatia and Kosovo* Forge Path for Driving License Recognition

In a move signifying closer bilateral ties, the Croatian government has initiated the process for mutual recognition of driving licenses with Kosovo*, announced Croatian Interior Minister Davor Božinović.

At a recent government session, Božinović presented a proposal titled “Decision on initiating the procedure for the conclusion of the Agreement between the Governments of Croatia and Kosovo* on mutual recognition and exchange of driving licenses.”

Božinović highlighted the agreement’s aim to enhance bilateral cooperation and facilitate road safety, noting Kosovo’s* existing similar agreements with several EU member states. Discussions are underway to forge equivalent agreements with additional EU members, signaling a broader trend of integration and cooperation.

The decision paves the way for negotiations on the draft Agreement, reflecting both countries’ commitment to simplifying administrative processes for their citizens. With hundreds of Kosovar citizens residing or staying temporarily in Croatia, and a significant number of Croatian nationals in Kosovo*, this agreement, once finalized, is expected to ease the mobility of individuals between the two countries, marking a significant step in diplomatic relations and regional mobility.
