Novska Launches €60 Million Gaming Industry Centre Project

In the Croatian city of Novska, an ambitious project has been launched within the PISMO entrepreneurial incubator, backed by A1

This project, known as the Centre for the Gaming Industry in Novska (CGI), represents a significant 60 million euros investment. Spearheading this venture is the Public Institution Regional Coordinator of SMŽ, collaborating closely with the Sisak-Moslavina County, the City of Novska, and the SIMORA Development Agency.

Set to kick off this year, the project has secured its funding through the Just Transition Fund. The unveiling event was graced by prominent Croatian officials, including the Minister of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy, and the Croatian Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds, alongside the Governor of Sisak-Moslavina County, the Mayor of Novska, and the Director of the Regional Coordinator of Sisak-Moslavina County.

The project’s blueprint reveals that the Centre for the Gaming Industry in Novska will span across 9 hectares in the Novska Business Zone. It includes a sprawling 12,000 square meter university complex and a 5,000 square meter student dormitory, equipped with comprehensive amenities like dining and hospitality facilities, a swimming pool, and a sports hall.

The student dormitory is designed to accommodate 201 beds. The accelerator will feature 200 work units and a cutting-edge VR studio. A gaming testing incubator with a seating capacity of 2,500 is also included in the plans. The entire complex will be interlinked by an expansive road network and will boast a variety of sports facilities, such as courts for handball, football, and volleyball, a golf training area, an outdoor gym, and tennis courts. A power plant is also part of this comprehensive project.

Designed by the Croatian company Trames d.o.o., the project has successfully obtained all six required construction permits. The Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds of Croatia is expected to announce a tender for the Centre for the Gaming Industry early this year, with the procurement for the construction contractor to follow. The construction works are projected to commence by the end of 2024.
