NALED Launches Serbia’s First Public Database Of Social Enterprises

More than 75 social enterprises, professional rehabilitation companies and social-impact businesses from 25 cities and municipalities are featured in Serbia’s first public database of social enterprises, created by the NALED

The database aims to increase the visibility of these businesses and make it easier for them to connect with citizens, companies, the public sector and donors. NALED Executive Director Violeta Jovanović said greater visibility should lead to more concrete support, including tailored financing, mentoring, easier access to markets and opportunities to participate in supply chains and public procurement.

Social enterprises operate on the market like other businesses but also pursue a clear social mission. They can, for example, employ people with disabilities, provide income opportunities for women in rural areas, produce food or support local communities.

NALED said the goal is to help these businesses move beyond reliance on individual enthusiasm towards more stable and systematic support.

The database is informational rather than an official registry, and participation is voluntary, with businesses providing their own information. It was developed through an NALED project supported by the Government of Sweden and presented in cooperation with the EU-funded Invest for Change project. Social enterprises and social-impact businesses can also apply for grants of €15,000 to €22,500 under a Smart Collective public call until September 30.
