Croatia has taken a major step toward one of its largest healthcare investments as plans for a new hospital complex in Osijek move into the realisation phase, paving the way for what is expected to become one of the most modern medical facilities in Southeast Europe.
The project centres on the development of a new facility for University Hospital Centre Osijek (KBC Osijek), which will significantly expand healthcare capacity in eastern Croatia. The investment is designed to modernise medical infrastructure, improve patient care and create better working conditions for healthcare professionals, while serving as a regional medical hub for Slavonia and neighbouring areas.
Croatian officials have described the project as one of the most important healthcare investments in the country in recent decades. Once completed, the new hospital complex is expected to feature advanced medical technology, modern treatment facilities and improved integration of healthcare services, strengthening Croatia’s ability to provide high-quality care and attract medical professionals.
The project forms part of broader efforts to modernise Croatia’s healthcare system through investments supported by national and European funding. Authorities say the new KBC Osijek complex will not only improve healthcare outcomes but also contribute to regional development, research and education, reinforcing Osijek’s position as a key medical and academic centre in eastern Croatia.
