Croatia’s national futsal team was formally welcomed at an official reception hosted by the government after capturing a historic bronze medal at the UEFA European Futsal Championship — the country’s first ever medal at a major futsal tournament. The event took place at Banski dvori, where Prime Minister Andrej Plenković congratulated the players, coaching staff and federation officials for their historic achievement and the pride they brought to Croatian sport.
The Croatian Football Federation (HNS) delegation, led by president Marijan Kustić, joined key government and sports representatives to honor the team’s performance, highlighted by their dramatic penalty shoot‑out victory over France for third place.
Plenković praised the team’s determination and resilience throughout the championship and confirmed that the government, working with the Ministry of Sport and Croatian Olympic Committee, will ensure the players receive a state reward despite futsal not being an Olympic sport.
HNS President Kustić described the bronze medal as a landmark moment in Croatian futsal, underlining growing interest and investment in the sport. Officials also noted the importance of domestic clubs and young home‑grown talent in building the squad’s success. The team’s captain expressed hope that this breakthrough would be a foundation for even greater achievements in the future.
