Montenegro Secures €26 Million Loan for Wind Park Expansion

EBRD backs renewable energy growth with Gvozd investment

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved a €26 million loan for the expansion of the Gvozd wind park in Montenegro, cementing the country’s push to diversify its clean energy mix.

The project represents more than infrastructure; it is part of Montenegro’s path to EU integration, where climate targets and energy security go hand in hand.

By expanding its renewable base, Montenegro reduces reliance on imports and builds resilience against volatile energy markets.

Regionally, the Gvozd expansion fits into a mosaic of renewable projects—from Croatia’s wind farms to Albania’s hydro assets—that together are positioning the Adria region as a green corridor for Europe.
