Turks Lead the Way in North Macedonia’s Tourism Boom

North Macedonia welcomes increased numbers of foreign tourists

The tourism sector in Macedonia continues to grow, with Turks leading as the most frequent visitors in October. According to the latest data from the State Statistics Office (SSO), the country welcomed 107,672 tourists in October, with foreign visitors comprising nearly three-quarters (74.2%) of the total.

Tourism in Macedonia saw an 8.8% rise in the number of tourists for the January–October period compared to the same time last year. While the number of domestic tourists declined by 1%, foreign tourist arrivals surged by 14.7%.

Turkish citizens dominated the list of visitors in October, with 23,838 arrivals. They were followed by Serbian tourists, with 6,582 visits, and German tourists in third place, totaling 4,686. Greeks closely followed, with 4,624 visits, while Bulgaria (2,768), Croatia (2,368), and Poland (2,367) also featured prominently.

Macedonia recorded 211,611 overnight stays during October, with foreign tourists accounting for 67.5% of these, leaving domestic visitors responsible for the remaining 32.5%. This trend underscores Macedonia’s growing appeal to international travelers.
