Sport shooter Miran Maričić has secured Croatia’s first medal at the Paris Olympic Games, winning bronze in the 10-meter air rifle discipline with a score of 230.0 points. Fellow Croatian shooter Petar Gorša also competed in the final, finishing in sixth place with 165.6 points.

The gold medal was claimed by China’s Sheng Lihao, who set a new Olympic record with a score of 252.2 points. Sheng was also the top performer in the qualifications. Sweden’s Victor Lindgren earned the silver medal with 251.4 points.

After the first series of five shots, Maričić was in second place with 52.8 points, while Gorša was in sixth with 51.8 points. Maričić maintained his second-place position after the second series, totaling 105.1 points, and Gorša moved up to fourth with 104.8 points. Ultimately, Gorša, competing in his fourth Olympic Games, concluded the event in sixth place after 16 shots, finishing with 165.6 points.

This bronze medal marks a significant achievement for Maričić and Croatian sports, highlighting the country’s talent in competitive shooting on the global stage.
