Zagreb has emerged as one of Europe’s premier destinations for castle enthusiasts, securing a joint seventh position with Larnaca, Cyprus, in a recent study by Ubuy. The analysis, which evaluated the density of castles in major European cities, found Zagreb to be home to five notable castles, amounting to roughly 0.78 castles per 100,000 square meters.
The Croatian capital’s historical gems include Dvorac Brezovica, Kašina – Castrum antiquum Paganorum, Medvedgrad, Utvda Susedgrad, and Kulmerovi dvori. The study, which focused on European capitals and two major cities from each country, utilized data from the World Population Review and TripAdvisor to identify the cities with the highest concentration of castles and palaces.
This recognition underscores Zagreb’s rich cultural heritage and its appeal to tourists seeking historical and architectural marvels.
