Türkiye and Kosovo* Sign MoU to Establish Joint Economic and Trade Committee

Türkiye and Kosovo* have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) in Ankara

The agreement was signed by Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat and Kosovo’s* Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade Minister Rozeta Hajdari, who discussed new opportunities for trade and investment. “The bilateral trade volume between Türkiye and Kosovo* reached $785 million in 2023, with Turkish investments in Kosovo rising to $162 million,” Bolat noted.

Bolat highlighted Türkiye’s role as the sixth largest investor in Kosovo*, with Turkish construction firms undertaking 30 projects worth $1.5 billion and engineering and consultancy firms completing 19 projects valued at $9.3 million. He emphasized that the establishment of JETCO will further strengthen economic ties. “We will organize the first meeting of JETCO in Kosovo* before the year wraps up, with the participation of a strong business community,” he said, adding that the new mechanism will foster economic development in both countries.

Minister Hajdari expressed her satisfaction with the MoU, highlighting Kosovo’s* rapid growth and her ministry’s commitment to advancing the partnership with Türkiye. The establishment of JETCO is expected to provide a robust framework for future economic collaboration and mutual prosperity.
