Trump Urged to Mediate Serbia-Kosovo Peace Deal

Two U.S. Congresswomen call for renewed diplomatic push in Western Balkans

In a rare bipartisan move, Republican Claudia Tenney and Democrat Chrissy Houlahan have jointly called on former U.S. President Donald Trump to re-engage in peace efforts between Serbia and Kosovo*

Following recent visits to Belgrade and Pristina, the congresswomen say the time is ripe for a breakthrough—and that Trump’s prior role in the 2020 Washington Agreement proves his influence still carries weight.

Their open letter highlights Kosovo’s recent provocations toward local Serbs and frames unresolved tensions as a growing threat to regional and global stability. “The Western Balkans is often overlooked, but it remains a gateway between East and West,” they argue, warning that instability in the region often foreshadows larger geopolitical unrest.

Citing broad goodwill toward the U.S. across both sides, the lawmakers propose that Trump visit both capitals and personally spearhead a new round of normalization talks. While such a move would be unconventional, they suggest it could serve as a catalyst for long-term peace—and possibly even mutual recognition.
