Sarajevo Film Festival Crowns New Voices in Regional Cinema

31st edition closes with Heart of Sarajevo for Stefan Đorđević’s “Wind, Talk to Me”

Sarajevo rolled up its red carpet on 22 August as the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival came to a close. The Heart of Sarajevo for Best Feature Film went to Wind, Talk to Me by Serbian director Stefan Đorđević, while Dino Mustafić’s dark comedy The Pavilion opened the festival to strong reviews.

This year’s event drew filmmakers, industry professionals and cinephiles from across Europe, reinforcing Sarajevo’s role as a hub of creativity three decades after the war.

The awards highlighted how regional directors are gaining global attention by blending intimate storytelling with pressing social themes.

The festival’s growing influence also reflects Sarajevo’s wider ambitions—to position itself not only as a cultural capital but as a meeting point for Europe’s film industry.
