Average Salaries in the Region: Lowest in Macedonia, Highest in Croatia

Regional wage disparities highlight economic differences across Southeast Europe

Recent data shows that average net salaries in the region range from €740 to €1,444, with Croatia leading by a wide margin. As of June 2025, the average salary in Croatia was €1,444, followed by Montenegro at €1,015 in August 2025.

Other countries lag behind, with Serbia reporting an average of €932 in July 2025. Bosnia and Herzegovina shows divided statistics: the Federation recorded €797, while Republika Srpska reached €782. Macedonia has the lowest average, around €740 in April 2025, highlighting the ongoing wage gap within the region.
