Non-EU Truck Drivers Face Travel Restrictions Amid New Rules

New EU Entry-Exit System poses challenges for non-EU truck drivers, limiting their stay and complicating cross-border operations.

Truck drivers from non-EU countries are confronting significant challenges due to recent European Union regulations that treat them as tourists, limiting their stay in the EU to 90 days within a 180-day period. This policy threatens to disrupt the flow of goods and impact the economy, as transporters fear being treated the same as tourists, potentially leading to border delays and fines.

The new rules impose additional administrative burdens and stricter controls on companies from non-EU countries, affecting their operations within the EU’s single market. Transporters are advocating for equal treatment with ship and railway crews, whose days of stay in the EU are not counted, to prevent further economic consequences.
