Air Montenegro Launches New Route to Baku, Boosting Tourism and Economic Ties

Air Montenegro has initiated a new flight route from Tivat to Baku, marking a significant development in travel and economic connections between Montenegro and Azerbaijan

Air Montenegro has inaugurated its new Tivat-Baku route, with the first flight arriving in Tivat, marking a significant expansion of the airline’s network. Flights will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, facilitating increased tourism and economic exchanges between Montenegro and Azerbaijan.

The arrival of the inaugural flight from Baku was celebrated with a special reception at Tivat Airport, attended by representatives from Air Montenegro, the National Tourist Organization of Montenegro, the Airport of Montenegro, and the Tivat Tourist Organization.

Air Montenegro expressed confidence that the new route would significantly boost tourism, expecting a substantial rise in visitors from Azerbaijan. This initiative is anticipated to not only enhance cultural exchanges but also stimulate further investments from Azerbaijan into Montenegro.

In related news, the Airport of Montenegro reported handling over 783,000 passengers since the beginning of the year, with the Podgorica airport experiencing a 42 percent increase in traffic compared to 2019, and Tivat nearing pre-pandemic levels.

This development follows the launch of additional routes from Tivat to Izmir and Birmingham earlier this season, with a new route to Bristol also on the horizon.

The National Tourist Organization of Montenegro noted the growing popularity of Montenegro as both a tourist destination and a business hub in Azerbaijan, highlighting the steady increase in interest among Azerbaijani tourists.
