The Region Hosts “Montenegro Means Business” Event at Adria Future Summit

A high-level gathering in Tivat puts focus on investment, EU path, and the real business opportunities shaping Montenegro

At the Adria Future Summit in Tivat, The Region hosted a dedicated networking event titled Montenegro Means Business, bringing together key regional decision-makers for a focused discussion on the country’s economic direction and investment potential.

Held at the Regent Porto Montenegro hotel, the event marked the official promotion of The Region – Montenegro Means Business special edition, which explores Montenegro’s evolving role as an investment destination and its path towards European Union membership.

Ana Novčić, Editor-in-Chief of The Region and CEO of AIM publishing house

Opening the evening, Ana Novčić, Editor-in-Chief of The Region and General Director of AIM publishing house, underlined that Montenegro Means Business is not a slogan, but a reflection of a market gaining real business traction. She also highlighted a key milestone for the platform: The Region is now available in seven regional languages alongside English, expanding access across all markets it covers.

The central conversation, led by Ivana Jovanović, COO of AIM, featured Davor Kunc, Head of the European Investment Bank in Montenegro, and Đina Popović, Director of Women on Boards Adria. The discussion addressed the intersection of investment, governance, and leadership in shaping Montenegro’s future.

Davor Kunc, Head of EIB Montenegro

Kunc noted that Montenegro demonstrates strong institutional readiness on its EU path, identifying budgetary preparedness by 2028 as a key upcoming challenge. Beyond tourism, he pointed to energy and broader economic sectors as areas of significant potential, emphasising the role of the European Investment Bank in supporting infrastructure projects critical for accession.

Djina Popovic, Director of WOBA

Popović highlighted that Montenegro holds a middle position in the region when it comes to women in leadership, while noting positive momentum through evolving regulatory frameworks. She stressed that alongside financial capital, human capital—particularly diverse leadership perspectives—plays a decisive role in shaping the country’s European trajectory.

The event was attended by H.E. Michelle Cameron, Ambassador of Canada to Montenegro, Brankica Janković, human rights expert, Arijana Nikolić and Nemanja Bojović from the Montenegrin Foreign Investment Council (MFIC), Budomir Raičković, President of the Association of Montenegrin Managers, as well as numerous representatives of the business community and institutions.

Through this event, The Region once again confirmed its role as a platform that not only informs, but actively connects and drives dialogue across the Adria region.
