The newest aircraft, an Airbus A220-300, arrived in Zagreb as part of the airline’s long-term strategy to replace its ageing fleet with more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly aircraft. The delivery brings Croatia Airlines one step closer to completing one of the most significant fleet modernisation projects in its history.
The Airbus A220 family has become the backbone of the airline’s future operations, offering lower fuel consumption, reduced carbon emissions and quieter engines compared with previous-generation aircraft. The new jets are also designed to provide greater passenger comfort through wider seats, larger windows and more spacious cabins.
Fleet renewal remains one of Croatia Airlines’ key strategic priorities as the company seeks to improve operational efficiency while meeting increasingly ambitious environmental targets across the European aviation industry. Replacing older aircraft is expected to lower maintenance costs, improve reliability and reduce the airline’s overall environmental footprint.
As Croatia’s national flag carrier and a member of the Star Alliance, Croatia Airlines plays an important role in connecting the country with major European destinations, particularly during the busy summer tourism season. The introduction of additional A220 aircraft is expected to strengthen those connections while supporting future network expansion.
The investment also reflects broader trends within the aviation industry, where airlines are increasingly prioritising newer-generation aircraft capable of delivering lower operating costs and improved sustainability without compromising passenger experience. For Croatia Airlines, the arrival of its tenth A220 represents another important step toward building a more modern, competitive and environmentally responsible airline for the years ahead.
