Miralem Pjanić Announces Emotional Retirement From Professional Football

Bosnian football legend describes career as a “Symphony” in farewell message

Miralem Pjanić, one of the most celebrated footballers in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has officially announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 35. In a personal and heartfelt message shared on social media, Pjanić used a musical metaphor to describe his career — calling it a “symphony” in which every touch, pass and shot was a note in the game he loved.

The midfielder enjoyed a distinguished career across Europe, starring for top clubs including Roma and Juventus, and winning multiple domestic trophies along the way.

Pjanić also made over 115 appearances for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, becoming one of its most capped players and a key figure in the generation that led the country to the 2014 FIFA World Cup, its greatest football achievement to date.

In his retirement message, Pjanić expressed deep gratitude to his family, teammates, coaches, technical staff and fans — thanking them for being part of his journey and the “music” that defined his life on the pitch. As he steps away from playing, the Bosnian star closes a remarkable chapter in European football with respect and emotion.
