Croatia And Norway Bolster Defence Cooperation

Croatian Defence Minister Ivan Anušić met with his Norwegian counterpart in Oslo on 13 January, aiming to deepen bilateral defence ties and enhance cooperation between the two countries’ defence industries.

Ivan Anušić, who is leading a Croatian delegation that includes the Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces, discussed current and future collaboration opportunities, the security situation in southeastern Europe and the Arctic, and the potential for closer industrial links.

Anušić highlighted Norway’s systematic approach to defence and noted that Croatia is reintroducing compulsory military service after 17 years—a practice Norway has maintained with full participation from both men and women. The Croatian delegation also visited the Norwegian defence industry’s research centre in Horten and will tour Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace ASA, underscoring Croatia’s interest in expanding technological cooperation with key European partners.
