Croatian Bakery Giant Mlinar Joins Bosqar’s “Future Food”

From Zagreb to the world — Mlinar’s fresh-baked ambition just got a powerful new partner

In a landmark €100 million acquisition, Croatian bakery titan Mlinar has officially joined Bosqar Invest, marking a bold expansion of the investment firm’s fast-growing food empire.

The deal, finalised with regulatory approval from Croatia’s competition watchdog, gives Bosqar a 67% indirect stake in Mlinar — a brand synonymous with artisanal baking across over 20 markets.

This strategic move follows Bosqar’s 2024 entry into the food sector via the acquisition of Slovenia’s Panvita, now both housed under its ambitiously named “Future Food” portfolio.

Mlinar, which boasts four production facilities and a retail and wholesale footprint spanning Europe and beyond, baked its way to €163m in group revenue in 2023, selling over 210 million products.

With 2,500 employees and profits rising 172% year-on-year, Mlinar’s integration with Bosqar and co-investor MidEuropa signals a fresh chapter for the bakery brand — one with regional expansion firmly on the menu.
