Electric Installations in Nearly All Serbian Homes, Heating in About Half

According to the 2022 Census data, in Serbia, a staggering 99.3% of homes, equating to 3,589,611 households, are equipped with electrical installations, as reported by the Serbian Statistical Office (SSO).

As detailed in the publication “Home Installations”, plumbing installations can be found in 3,421,362 homes (94.7%), while 3,416,381 homes (94.6%) possess sewage systems. Heating facilities are available in 1,829,990 residences, accounting for 50.6% of the total, and a remote gas pipeline serves 404,405 homes (11.2%).

Of the total enumerated households, 2,704,711 (75%) are connected to public water supplies. In contrast, 20% utilize local village water supplies, hydrophores, or similar systems.

Public sewage systems serve 2,052,994 homes (57%), whereas 38% of homes connect their sewage installations to septic tanks, rivers, channels, or similar systems.

Public or local district heating warms 718,467 households (20%). Meanwhile, individual floor heating is found in 31% of the surveyed homes. Notably, almost half (46%) of the residences lack internal heating installations.
