Ljubljana Region Launches €5.4M E-Bike Network

The Ljubljana Urban Region is embarking on an ambitious e-bike rental network to promote sustainable commuting across its 21 municipalities

The Ljubljana Urban Region is set to launch a public e-bike rental system across its 21 municipalities, with plans to install 94 docking stations, providing 549 e-bicycles and 854 charging spots over the next four years.

With a unified information system and user-friendly payment methods, including the Urbana card, the network will link with public transport and P+R stops, allowing effortless rental, return, and charging.

Valued at €5.4 million, the new network will integrate seamlessly with Ljubljana’s existing system, enhancing accessibility for longer commutes and making it easier to cycle to work

The agreement, signed by the mayors of the participating municipalities, is seen by the regional development agency as a vital step toward a comprehensive regional e-bike system.

By encouraging daily use of e-bikes, the initiative aims to reduce traffic congestion into Ljubljana, which already has 35 e-bike stations with 125 bikes. Lilijana Madjar, director of the Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region, described the move as a milestone in advancing sustainable mobility in the region.
